They say the mind goes when you get older

It's a haiku, an "excerpt" would be the whole thing.

Magic—magick, if you insist—relies on sympathies, / the idea that the more alike two things are / the more they can affect one another.

Split fairly like a check, / cheek to cheek, a sleek / acceptance of escape.

Is this apple pink / Or are my gums bleeding?

Among twenty jealous revenants / The only moving thing / Was the back of the divison.

pigeons pecking / in the parking lot
