The Ballad of John McCain

If you were one of those people who called McCain disgusting when he voted to debate the ACA repeal and/or three days later called him a hero for voting against the bill, which is what he said he was going to do and then changed his mind about doing and then changed his mind back (both times for who knows what reason)—please just stop talking/typing about politics forever thank you.

Donald Trump and the Military Trans Ban

1. It’s not a ban just ’cause he tweeted it

2. There are already thousands of trans people in the military

3. Yes the military is an imperialist force that people probably shouldn’t be wanting to join and yes we spend way too much on it and yes if the draft is reinstated yay now trans people don’t have to get drafted BUT ALSO people in the military are widely seen (and to a certain extent deservedly so) as heroes and trans people should be seen as heroes too also for many living in poverty the military is their best option career-wise and offers affordable healthcare and education that they otherwise wouldn’t have access to also North Korea is a thing BUT ALSO ALSO see points 1 and 2, this isn’t a thing and while you’re talking about this other things are happening, pretty much everything he tweets is a distraction, and it’s fine to post about because yeah the President matters I guess (though more than he really should but that’s a different conversation) but for every post about his stupid tweets you should, if you’re purporting to care about these things, put up at least 2 or 3 posts about bills / appointments / elections, all of which are actually important BUT ALSO ALSO ALSO harmful rhetoric is harmful fullstop and should obviously be called out especially when it’s coming from an influential person, and his reasoning is demonstrably false and I’m the last person to stand in the way of a Good Ol’ Fashioned Fact Check® so I guess what I’m saying is fine talk about it but like I just wrote 250 words on it and you can too, really, nuance is not that hard.
