Echo..Echo…Echo….
One of the things I’ve noticed about political posts on social media is that, when it doesn’t turn into an argument, it’s basically just a person who already knows how much the current administration/Congress sucks posting yet another sucky thing they did or said and then a bunch of other people who already know current administration/Congress sucks being like “Argh, that sucks.” And I’m torn because on the one hand I obviously see the value in staying angry, but only if that anger leads to action, and too many of these posts don’t include a call to action. Also, a lot of these angry reactions are phrased in the form of “I can’t believe…” or “Maybe now people will finally wake up” or some such, when the sucky thing in question is something that, frankly, a lot of the people who are responsible for this administration/Congress being in power don’t give a rat’s ass about. People need to put more effort into understanding A) why these people were voted into power (i.e. what the people you disagree with actually care about) and B) what the people who are currently in power are doing to screw over the people who put them in power (because they are). That’s a crucial piece that’s too often missing from the conversation.
